Private & Tactical LTE Systems

LTE means Long-Term Evolution, commonly known as 4G. Private and tactical LTE systems provide dedicated mobile broadband capability for organizations that require controlled, secure or field-deployable communications networks.

A network you own rather than rent

A private LTE network gives an organization its own mobile broadband coverage over its own site or area of operations. Capacity is not shared with the public, priority is set by the organization, and the network continues to operate whether or not the commercial networks do. Tactical variants are transportable and can be deployed to where an operation is running rather than where infrastructure happens to exist.

Where it applies

  • Mining, oil, gas and industrial sites requiring coverage and capacity across a large private area
  • Ports, airports and logistics hubs with high device density and operational applications
  • Critical infrastructure and utilities requiring assured availability
  • Defence, emergency response and humanitarian deployments requiring transportable coverage
  • Campuses and compounds where commercial coverage is inadequate or must not be relied upon

What BCE Systems provides

Requirement and spectrum assessment, coverage and capacity design, regulatory support, supply and integration of core and radio equipment, device provisioning, integration with existing radio and communications systems, commissioning, training and support.

Frequently asked

Do we need our own spectrum?
Usually yes, and the route depends on the regulator and the country. Options include licensed allocation, shared spectrum and, in some cases, arrangements with an existing operator. This is assessed at the start, because it shapes what is possible.
Does private LTE replace our radio system?
Rarely, and we would be cautious about proposing it. LTE carries data, video and applications well. Group voice under pressure remains radio's strength. Most organizations integrate the two.
