PUBLIC SAFETY

Access Control & Surveillance Systems

Access control systems manage who can enter buildings, rooms, compounds or restricted areas. Surveillance systems monitor people, assets, facilities and environments using cameras, sensors and related technologies. BCE Systems supports integrated physical-security environments for critical and commercial sites.

Two systems, or one

Access control and surveillance are frequently bought separately and then expected to work together. Integrated properly, an access event can call up the associated camera, an alarm can be verified visually before a response is committed, and an investigation takes minutes rather than an afternoon. Designed together, the combined system costs little more than the two bought apart.

Typical environments

  • Corporate offices, campuses and multi-tenant buildings
  • Banking and financial premises, including branch and cash-handling areas
  • Critical infrastructure, utility and industrial sites
  • Government, institutional and mission facilities
  • Hotels, lodges and compounds where guest experience and security must coexist

What BCE Systems provides

Site survey and risk-informed design, credential and reader selection, camera selection and placement based on what the image is actually required to prove, network and storage design, integration between access, video and alarm systems, installation and commissioning, operator training, and maintenance. We supply Avigilon and Gallagher systems among others.

Frequently asked

How many cameras do we need?
Fewer than most proposals suggest, placed better. The right question is what each camera must prove (identification, recognition, detection or observation) because that sets the field of view and the resolution, and therefore the count.
How long should footage be retained?
Long enough to be useful, no longer than is lawful and proportionate. Retention drives storage cost and carries data protection obligations, so it is set deliberately rather than by default.
Can this integrate with our existing system?
Often, yes. We assess what is installed before proposing replacement. Where systems are genuinely incompatible we will say so rather than force an integration that will not hold.
